    Our Process

Estimating

Our process is to provide accurate constructible estimates based on developed documents from plan and specification to conceptual projects.  We are able to guide the design team with our knowledge of electrical construction, code requirements and understanding of client needs.  Our Capabilities include providing early conceptual budgets and pricing studies, pricing updates at project milestones and maintain a progress cost log on updates as well as alternates or options that present themselves during the estimating or preconstruction phases of the project.  We utilize Trimble Accubid along with Live-Count to produce a complete estimate based on the drawings, areas, phases, electrical systems and bid items along with meeting any project necessary breakouts.  Live Count provides a visual representation of what has been taken off in the estimate.

Design-Build Services

The most critical element for success in any construction project starts in the initial stages. Whether it is design build, design assist or target value design; our highly capable and experienced team will help you define and adjust your project budget and goals.

From the start, Holmes Electric will provide budget estimates as requested based on the information provided, whether by narrative, conceptual designed documents or an idea simply jotted down on paper; our budgets will be as actual and accurate as possible. We will coordinate with all trades and vendors to work through the design phases of your project. Early planning, coordination, building information modeling (BIM) along with clash detection, value engineering (VE), risk management, constructability analysis, pull planning and procurement scheduling is crucial for your project to transition from conceptual to reality.

By rolling the pre-construction team directly to the construction team, there is no loss of information between these different phases of your project. This allows us to develop relationships with the entire design team and continue the team’s success directly into construction.

Purchasing

With over 32 years of experience in the electrical industry, our Purchasing Department has a developed network of vendors from various suppliers to ensure procurement for all materials and supplies needed for your project. We are continually researching the market to find new and innovative products, find best pricing and diversifying our supply chain. By working hand-in-hand with our onsite electricians, we are able to keep them supplied with all the materials required for a complete and Wired Right installation and ensure that procurement of materials keeps them on schedule and makes our electricians installation efficient. We have the know-how in locating and procuring the material needed to complete your project on time and on budget.

VDC/BIM

The Holmes Electric VDC group is committed to supporting all aspects of our construction teams. We use the Autodesk suite software to serve our projects including, Revit, AutoCAD and Navisworks Manage. We also utilize some add on software such as Trimble Field Points to feed location data to the field using robotic total stations and evolve Electrical to standardize our content and create prefab packages for our shop. These tools give us the greatest flexibility to collaborate with the full range of construction teams from owners, engineers, general contractors and MEPF contractors. In our modeling process, issues are caught early and solved before they make it to the field. This results in a more efficient and productive field team.

Pre-Fabrication

Holmes Electric is committed to utilizing pre-fabrication wherever and whenever possible on your project. Pre-fabrication enables our construction team to deliver and install assemblies on time and within budget as well as meet industry sustainability practices.

Our production and staging facility allows our team to develop, build, and inventory commonly used electrical and communications sub-assemblies, incorporate standard sub-assemblies into design drawings and share prefabrication successes within estimating to save time and money on future projects.

Our pre-fabrication shop allows us to start work prior to arriving on site, allowing us to schedule just in time deliveries based on the project schedule and speed up installation times on your project. Electrical components arrive at the job site in an efficient, damage free and operable manner, minimizing waste and increasing recycling. Specific, strategic and custom assemblies are provided to the site so productivity can be measured and maximized. Pre-fabrication reduces laydown congestion on the project site, which in turn, allows crews to work in a safe and clean environment.
